Safety reasons. I called Lowes for gas dryer installation fee. They told me it typically is $200-$300. Home Depot has a flat rate of $200. Hard to believe they would do a gas installation for free. So I had it done shortly after this post. The install was free but they charged like 50 for some new parts like the vent.
